Datasets can be protected from direct access via the seal system. The seal is linked with one or several release templates and offers a hierarchical release structure that can be managed by delegated individuals.
If an authorized person needs access to a sealed dataset, the person can ask for a release. According to the reason given, the person who is authorized for the release knows exactly why access is granted.

The release can only be given or refused by the responsible users or groups. According to the configuration several users and groups can participate in this process. The system can also be configured in a way that a refusal by one user can revoke all other releases and abort the release operation.

The user who has requested the release will be informed about the result of the release operation. When the release is given, the seal can be broken and access to the dataset is possible. Authorized users are informed when the seal is broken and therefore access to the dataset has been granted.
It goes without saying that all steps will be recorded in the logbook.
